County Bosses Push for Fast Tracking of Irrigation Projects

Busia County leadership led by Governor Otuoma and Baringo County leadership led by Governor Cheboi separately met the Principal Secretary, State Department for Irrigation Mr. Gitonga Mugambi on Tuesday 18th April.

The county Leaders were at Maji House to push for fast tracking of irrigation projects in their respective counties.

The meeting With the Busia County Leadership discussed Irrigation projects in the County and deliberated on possible areas of collaboration. The meeting focused on implementation of the Nzoia and lower Sio Irrigation Project and agreed to fast track it. The Nzoia and lower Sio project seeks to put 3000 acres of land under irrigation.

The meeting with the Baringo County Leadership deliberated on the Irrigation Projects in Baringo County. The deliberations centered on the possibility of using lake Baringo to irrigate approx. 56,000 acres of land, fast-racking the implementation of Radart dam and the expansion of the Perkerra irrigation scheme.
